Even though there are many factors that contribute to eating disorders, the media plays an influential role in the lives of many women. Eating disorders are abnormal and serious disturbances in one s eating habits caused by many factors. Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are two well-known eating disorders. The causes of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are difficult to understand but there are a lot of factors that play a role in the development of them. Females are more likely to develop an eating disorder and heightened concern about weight than males. One of the reasons why is because girls are convinced that their appearances is the most important way of defining themselves. The media and the society takes part in why girls believe this.
